H.W. Wilson to EBSCO Transition • In May of 2011 EBSCO purchased the HW Wilson Company. • As of December 2011 all Wilson databases have been converted over to the EBSCOhost platform- print production has also transitioned. • As of January 1, 2012 Joseph Miller retired - please wish Joseph all the best in his new adventures! • The Wilson Bronx operational unit has been closed down and all work on the Sears Lists have been transferred to EBSCO Publishing employees.
The Sears List Today • We understand HW Wilson and Sears has enjoyed a stellar reputation in the marketplace for more than 100 years. • EBSCO Publishing plans on carrying on this proud tradition and intends to continue to support and update the Sears List. • EBSCO has retained critical features of the online Sears List so that you can continue to find: • Broader, narrower, related terms stemming from a subject heading • “Use for” and “see also” definitions • Useful scope notes • Search and browse by Dewey Decimal Classification • Sears Lista de Encabezamientos de Materia, which was published in print in 2008, is also now available on EBSCOhost.
General Updates • The annual update was completed by the Wilson group. • All files have been distributed to our electronic users as a MARC file. • The Sears List Canadian Companion, has officially been folded into the main body of the Sears List for Web users. • Potential additional headings currently under consideration include: Cloud Computing, Semantic Web, Mobile Applications, Digital Rights Management, etc.
