That All Nations Might Believe and Obey “Obedient Nations”
Building a Godly Nation • God wants to take a slave nation with a slave mentality and turn it into a model nation for the nations. • Read Deuteronomy 4: 1-8 • Questions: • What has God provided the Hebrew people? • What are they to do with what he has given? • What will be the results of their obedience?
Nations Are to Know and DO “Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him— to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Principle of Self-Government “The Christian principle of self-government is God ruling internally from the heart of the believer. In order to have true liberty, man must WILLINGLY (voluntarily) be governed INTERNALLYby the Spirit and Word of God rather than by external forces. Government is first internal (causative), then extends outwardly (effect).” Dr. Elizabeth Youmans Chrysalis International
Two Sources of Government • External: • Government • Clerics – Church or Mosque • Fear • Internal (self-government)
Principle of Self-Government “He knows how to rule a kingdom, that cannot manage a province; nor can he wield a province, that cannot order a city; nor he order a city, that knows not how to regulate a village. Not he a village, that cannot guide a family; not can that man govern well a family that knows not how to govern himself; not can he govern himself unless his reason be lord, will and apatite be vassals; nor can reason rule unless herself be ruled by God, and be obedient to Him.” Hugo Grotius Dutch Lawyer/Theologian
Power and Freedom Government • World Government • National • State • City • Family • Individual • Principles: • The more internal self-government a person and nation possesses, the more freedom they have (less external government). • Freedom flows from the internal to the external.
