Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The Words • “Teaching them” • Greek - didasko: “to hold discourse with others in order to instruct them, deliver didactic discourses” • Parsing the verb • Present Tense – on going action, no end in sight • Active Voice – the subject is actively involved • The disciples are to actively and continually engage in teaching “the nations!”

The Words • “To obey” • Greek - tereo – “to attend to carefully, take care of, to guard.” • Parsing the verb: • Present Tense – ongoing action, no end in sight • Active Voice – the subjective is actively involved • The nations are to actively and continually obey all that Christ has commanded!

Building a Godly Nation • God wants to take a slave nation with a slave mentality and turn it into a model nation for the nations. • Read Deuteronomy 4: 1-8 • Questions: • What has God provided the Hebrew people? • What are they to do with what he has given? • What will be the results of their obedience?

Nations Are to Know and DO “Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him— to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.” Rom. 16: 25-27

  24. Principle of Self-Government “The Christian principle of self-government is God ruling internally from the heart of the believer. In order to have true liberty, man must WILLINGLY (voluntarily) be governed INTERNALLYby the Spirit and Word of God rather than by external forces.
