  4. Advancement As the population of the Colonies grew, many of the citizens became restless. Settlements popped up all over the eastern seaboard. Towns whether large or small claimed land along the rivers and seaports. Wild tangles of forest were replaced by neat farms up to the Appalachian Mountains. These mountains however were owned by Great Britain. The pioneers however didn`t care about borders. They new that rich new land awaited them on the other side.

  5. Settling John Sevier, in 1772, led a group of people into the land we now know as Tennessee to establish communities. Daniel Boone led families to Kentucky to live. George Rogers Clark fled the British out of their northern strongholds to the result of settlers flooding into the northwest territory, which now includes Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

  6. Settling across the mountains The people who moved across the mountains had to have been brave. They had to do everything on their own, like making homes from logs cut by hand or making furniture and clothing. Not only that, but they had to hunt, gather and grow their food.

  7. The troubles of living there The Native Americans weren`t happy by the pioneers moving over here. The pioneers were attacked by these Native Americans and often times the British would pay the tribe to attack them. The winters were even more harsh. The lack of medicine caused many people to die. But these troubles did not scare them off. The pioneers were confident in taking care of themselves. They loved being able to work in their own freedom.

  8. Daniel Boone the Frontiersman In the year 1769 Daniel Boone was amazed by the area before him. In Daniel’s eyes, the state Kentucky was a beautiful paradise with all the presents nature could offer. He wanted to live there. Daniel rushed back to were he had a farm in North Carolina ,and on his way he went though the woods like the way he came up in. The path he was on was called warriors path. When he got home he told his family and friends all aboutthe amazing state Kentucky. In 1775 Daniel had at least 30 woodsmen and together they sent out to build a better road that travels though the mountains. They used axes to cut down trees and clear brush. The job went good until they got very far into Kentucky. The Indians were not very happy when they saw that Boone’s men were cutting the trail they had made. They attacked Boone’s men and a few of the men were killed by the Indians. They built a fort on the edge of Kentucky and named it Boone’s Borough. Then they finally went home.
