Introduction Strong packs have: A good annual pack program planned a year in advanced that is shared with every family as a calendar • Annual program planning conference (年度計劃) • Mid year (May – Jun) - plan for the next whole year (Aug – Jul) • Year end - another meeting before year end re-chartering • Monthly pack committee meeting (每月團務會議) • Reviewed previous activities and update the progress for next 3 upcoming activities. • Approved and updated plan by pack committee • Get help and inputs from committee and adults
Annual Program Planning In General Den Leader Program Planning Pack Program Planning • FUN of Cub Scouting is still there! • Pack program events can help support adventure requirements. • Outdoor adventures, Pack campfire and Pack overnight camping. • Using the Cub Scout Adventure Analysis Worksheet in planning your annual program. • Coordinating your planning – Pack, District, Council • Audience for requirements • Requirements for Rank and Electives • Read through the new requirements – What works when for your location and climate • Recognition • Preparing to Lead the Adventures – Den Meeting Notes

Five Steps of Annual Program Planning Before you start the planning process, explain: The importance of Annual Program Planning Why you are doing it The rules for the process during this meeting Step1:Collecting the Dates from different resources Step2: Review what your pack did last year. Step3: Brainstorming on activities Step4: Assign event and pack meeting planners/adult leader Step5: Review your plan and publish
STEP 1 Collecting the Dates from different resources Take the dates you collected and put them into your pack master calendar Add den meeting dates
STEP 2 Review what your pack did last year • What events went well? • What events didn’t go so well? • National Summertime Pack Award? • Journey to Excellence Award? • Den and pack attendance? • Cub Day Camp or Family Camp? • Did we sell popcorn? Ask questions, but don’t spend too much time on this
STEP 3 Brainstorming on activities (腦力激盪) • Derby • Pine wood • Space • RainGutter • Cubmobile • Camping • Summer Day Camp • Family Camp • Pack Camp • Educational • Zoo • Museum • Aquarium • Fire Station Visit • Sports • Ball game • Fishing • Rock Climbing • Hiking • Other • Blue & Gold Banquet • Family picnic • First Aid Training • New Year Party • Pet Show • Bike Rodeo • Water Rocket
STEP 3 Prioritize the list • Is a particular activity something for dens or the pack as a whole? • Could the activity be incorporated into a den or pack meeting? • Take a vote, then add to the calendar Your calendar should include: School and community dates Holidays Some personal conflict dates Den and pack meetings Additional den and pack activities District and council dates
STEP 4 Assign event and pack meeting planners/adult leader • Must have trained adult leaders to lead activities • Most outdoor activities require outdoor training trained • BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Good planning and preparation in advance will lead to family satisfaction • Out of county activities require local PERMIT- registered at council • Driving direction, map, contact person phone & emergency contact • Communicate activities frequently through e-mail • Use Den Chief’s help if possible
STEP 5 Review your plan and publish Once you feel comfortable, publish or email your annual plan to each family • Not everyone has an email account, so be sure your distribution reaches all families • Sharing the annual plan with your families could be the most important step in retaining your Scouts and building tenure
