Brief History Before Title IX • Before Title IX: There was only dancing and cheerleading for girls • Collegiate women’s sports received 2% of athletic budgets • Schools and Universities had separate entrances for males and females • Women were classified as spectators not participants • Women were seen as morally inferior to men

  3. Why was it implemented? To increase the number of women who participate in women’s sports
