  1. How good is your welcome?

  2. Boundry around this short session • Talking about a curious visitor in your area alighting on your church gathering. • Not always a traditional setting. • Not intended to be ‘theological’ although you can look at: • 2 Cor 4v6..Let your light shine in darkness….Matt 5v16 as well. • Romans12….we have different gifts

  3. The invisible woman! • Is there a mission to appeal to/ win the lost for Christ? • Would I return? • Do they want me in the first place?

  4. How did I welcome you? • Doorway? • Was a person there? • Information? • Seating? • Was it inviting? • Are you in a generous mood to listen and participate? • Would you come back?

  5. Be aware….. • Jesus said “let the children come”…don’t get in the way! • Barriers, obstacles and impediments • Things that make it hard for people to engage with the message. • How do we really welcome strangers? • It is a gift…not everyone is good at it! • It says a lot about the consistency of our message.

  6. The car showroom • Modern • Light and airy • Greeters • Coffee, brochures, displays. • Intuative • TV, toys, soft furniture • The whole family experience.

  7. Not so good ! • Everything there • But…. • No personal contact • Cold, uninspiring.

  8. Mind your own business! • TV programme, Thursday morning. • Offers help to ailing small business • Chinese takeaway. • No gimmicks…just looking at it from visitor’s point of view.. • Decluttere, simplify, welcome. • Keep fresh • Seek, share ideas

  9. Welcome Checklist? • Can people know about us in the first place? • Do we actively consider (and train) ourselves in the art of greeting, making new comers and our members welcome? • Is the welcome area…welcoming? • Do we provide a way of maintaining our welcome?
