2. Vision To be the main organization in developing the living quality of the people in Bangkok providing sports and recreation, maintaining the value of ancient history and the uniqueness of Thai culture and leading Bangkok to be the city of world class tourism.

3. The Culture, Sports and Tourism Department is responsible for

4. TO conservation, promotion, dissemination, revival and fostering of arts and culture; provides knowledge, understanding and the realization of Thai values and identity.

5. To promotes and supports music, sport and library activities and services; develops and promotes tourism and sources of arts and cultural knowledge in various forms with an emphasis on public participation

6. To analyzes problems and looks to implement guidelines; develops sports, recreation, arts and culture.

9. 1. Secretarial Office takes charge of secretarial and document work, general administrative business, personnel administration, finance, treasury and accounting, budgeting stores, control of venues and vehicles, legal work and contracts, public relations, design work and other tasks which are not under the responsibility of any specific division; performs any other related duties.

10. 2. Policy and Planning Division prepares the department’s operational plans and ensures that they are in co-ordination with the BMA’s development policy and plan; follows up and evaluates the operations; promotes staff development; serves as an information center regarding the BMA’s recreation, tourism and arts and culture activities; performs any other related duties.

11. 3. Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japan) arranges basic sports and recreational activities, arranges recreational activities at skill-development and advanced levels, develops youth leaders, promotes the establishment of Bangkok Youth Council and District Youth Councils, arranges activities for cultural and tradition conservation and promotion and other special events, provides services in preparing venues for conferences and seminars for organizations both in the government and the private sectors, supervises the use of the premises, sports grounds and equipment to ensure that it is in accordance with the set regulations, promotes academic work and staff potential development, serves as a source of information about youth development of the Bangkok Youth Center; performs any other related duties

12. 4. Recreation Division provides services and promotes youth centers’ activities; promotes special activities for youth and the general public; provides library services as a source of knowledge and entertainment in leisure time; organizes library-related projects; promotes and supports the operations and the activities of public libraries and youth centers in Bangkok area; promotes and develops officers’ potential; performs any other related duties.

13. 5. Sports Division promotes the BMA’s sports activities and operations; provides academic support; determines standards and criteria for sports arrangements, sports grounds, and sports centers in Bangkok area; promotes and supports both basic sports training and training for excellence with programs for the general public and for talented youths; screens representative athletes for Bangkok; arranges tournaments in co-ordination with associations and network organizations; promotes and develops sports-related staff’s potential; performs any other related duties.

14. 6. Music Division arranges classical Thai music and modern music performances as part of public programs as well as at the BMA’s official events; composes musical pieces for publicity purposes for the BMA’s work; promotes the conservation, restoration and the dissemination of Thai music; trains teachers, students, youth leaders, and the general public in both music theory and practice; prepares training manuals; arranges music performance and singing contests; provides musical arrangement and recording services; develops staff’s potential; performs any other related duties.

15. 7. Tourism Division prepares the BMA’s tourism development plans; provides tourism information; publicizes and prepares media; arranges tourism promotion activities in co-operation with other organizations in both the government and the private sectors; promotes and develops both services and attractions in Bangkok so they are of a high standard to attract both local and foreign visitors, for economic, social and cultural benefits; promotes sustainable tourism based on public participation; performs any other related duties.

16. 8. Culture Division • is responsible for the conservation, restoration, and maintenance of Thai traditions, culture, values, identities, and local wisdom; arranges cultural exchange programs; arranges cultural learning venues for the public in the forms of local museums, children’s museums, and art museums; promotes, supports, and develops cultural operational network at all levels with • the emphasis on the participation of the public sectors and local communities; carries out any work regarding related law; follows up and evaluates the BMA’s cultural operations; promotes and supports staff development; performs any other related duties.
