Consumers must show ID to purchase them. This is due to the fact that they contain ingredients used in other drugs. How do you feel about how they are sold and do you think it is a good idea?

Illegal Drugs • Definition: Drugs that are made and used purely for their effects. • Anyone who is caught making, selling, or using illegal drugs can be arrested. • Using illegal drugs can damage your health and can cause DEATH.
Marijuana • Definition: illegal drug that comes from the hemp plant. • AKA: Pot or Weed • Usually smoked • Increases your HR & Decreases your energy. • Interferes with memory & concentration.
Inhalants • Definition: substances whose fumes or vapors are inhaled, or breathed in. • Examples: lighter fluids, cleaning products, paint, gas, and more • Damages Brain Cells
Stimulants Definition: Drugs that speed up the body’s function. Examples: Cocaine Highly addictive Effects are unpredictable & very dangerous Inhaled or injected
Anabolic Steroids • Definition: Synthetic drugs based on a male hormone. • Used by athletes to increase weight & strength. • Users become Violent & Depressed.
Narcotics • Definition: Strong drugs that relieve pain. • Some narcotics are prescribed for pain • Example: heroin, codeine, opium, and more • Effects: dry mouth, restlessness, seizures, and many more.
Hallucinogens Definition: illegal drugs that cause the user’s brain to create or distort images and to see and hear things that aren’t real. Examples: PCP & LSD Lead to Strange or Violent behaviors. Long Term use=Brain Damage. Slang: Angel dust, acid and more

Prescription Drugs • Drugs that are prescribed by a doctor for some type of medical use. • Three types: Opioids, Stimulants, and Depressants • Slang names: Oxy, speed, tranks, uppers • Commonly prescribed drugs: Oxycontin,Vicodin, Adderrall, Ritalin, Valium, Xanax • Side effects: breathing, seizures, death
Over-the-counter medicine • You do not need a prescription for these • The most common one is DXM or Dextromethorphan. • This is found most commonly in cough and cold medicines • Side effects: It can alter the brain making you feel detached from the environment and not oneself. • Street names: candy, dex, robo, and skittling
