Overview • To be held 9-11 October 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil • In Conjunction with the Brazillian Congress of Radiology, a conference similar to RSNA • One badge for both conferences, so attendees can float between the two conferences • The DICOM Conference and Workshop will have a dedicated room with seating for 150-200 people • Adapting a program format in line with BCR
Social Program • Welcome reception on October 9th for all • Faculty dinner on October 10th for workshop and invited speakers (does not include paper presenters) • Conference wide social event on October 11th • Afternoon and morning breaks, with extended lunch break for visiting exhibits • Attendees purchase their own lunch, etc.?
Conference Program • Tutorial format still under discussion • May do as a pre-program event on the 9th • May do as a multi-session, multi-day course track as part of BCR’s ‘Refresher Course’ format • Scientific sessions in parallel with BCR’s • One or more “Special Focus Sessions” for the futures discussion in parallel with BCR’s • Providing care to remote rural communities suggested as the topic
Promotion • BCR will be promoting the DICOM 2010 conference in Brazil and South America as part of their own promotion to professional registrants • In parallel, BCR and the planning committee will promote the DICOM 2010 conference by itself to informaticians and the technical community who normally would not attend the Brazilian Congress of Radiology
Logistics • Registration, hotels, etc. to be handled by BCR as part of their normal process • Fees will be set by BCR • Last year’s fee was ~600 BRL, depending on date and membership category (~350 USD) • Under discussion is whether or not informaticians not interested in CME credit would have a different fee schedule from professional registrants • Under discussion is how the DICOM conference recoups expenses (e.g. invited speakers)
