Political Changes Bennett was PM during the great depression, he had an laissez faire approach at first, but then he got fired. King was the PM for most of the great depression, and he would only help provinces run by his own party. Bennett feared communism, and created relief camps so people wouldn’t go communist CCF was one of the political parties run by Johnson and he wanted to create jobs .
Economical Changes There was over production of wheat, and the prices went down. Canada grew a lot, so really crucial for Canada. Because of droughts and other disasters, ruined the soil and farers forced to abandoned their farm. Bennett believed he could save the economy by blasting up the tariffs little did he know all the other countries did the same. There were also a lot of lay offs because economy went down.
