HISTORICAL BACKGROUND • Tradition of highly developed industry since XIX century • Tradition of a parliamentary democracy (period between the two World Wars) • Tradition of social solidarity + advanced system of social security since XIX century (Bismarck model) • Tradition of Associative Life (culture of societies, guilds and fellowships,interrupted during the Soviet period)
CZECH REPUBLIC AS A DONOR • 1995 - OECD member • 1996 – CZ first from Eastern Europe renewing DC national programme • 2002 – 2007 – first DC Strategy • 2004 - joining EU • 2005 – 2010 – 15 priority countries (8 programme countries) • 2010 - Act on Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid May • 2010 - Development Cooperation Strategy for the period 2010-2017 • 2010–2017 – 10 priority countries (5 programme countries)

PROGRAMME OF DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION WITH MOLDOVA 2011-2017 MAIN MID-TERM PRIORITIES: • Responsible governance – efective civil service, anti-corruption, administrative decentraliztion etc. • Economic recovery – improve conditions for business and economic development, infrastructure investment, high value agriculture, regional development etc. • Human capital – education, health care, social protection etc.
