Notable Achievements • Membership • Welcomed 79 new members (July 1, 2006 - June 30 2007) • 403 members • ListServ • Launched June 2007 to facilitate information exchange among our members • Since launch, over 70 members have since signed up for this opt-in service.
Notable Achievements • Conference Attendance • 189 members - 2007 Annual Conference • 148 members - 2006 Summer Training • Continuing Professional Education Program • 69 members - Budget Forecasting Forum • 66 members - Redevelopment Forum • 85 members - ABC’s of Financing • 220 members - Total Attendance • CPFO Exam • GFOAz will be hosting the CPFO Exams for interested members at the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, November 2, 2007.
Scholarship Program & Awards • Professional Development Scholarships • Last year, GFOAz doubled the number of professional development scholarships offered to members • Seven scholarships ($500 each) are available to members interested in continued professional development see website for details
Scholarship Program & Awards • Advanced Government Finance Institute • GFOAz provides one scholarship each year for one of our members to attend this program in Madison, Wisconsin. • The 2007 AGFI scholarship recipient was Julie Buelt, Financial Analyst for the City of Chandler.
Highlighted Projects for 2007-2008 The Board of Directors is working to develop a partnership with ASU and GFOA to discuss the feasibility of creating an Arizona Government Finance Institute similar to the AGFI Program offered in Madison, Wisconsin.
Highlighted Projects for 2007-2008 GFOAz is looking to provide additional scholarship opportunities to our members to attend training sessions and conferences, expanding the information available on the GFOAz website and developing a two-year training plan for continuing professional education opportunities.
Highlighted Projects for 2007-2008 The Board of Directors authorized the development of the GFOAz Operations Handbook that will capture organizational knowledge and help GFOAz staff provide a consistent level of service to the association and to the membership.
