This article discusses how linking research with professional standards at the College of Policing can improve officer willingness to utilize research in their work. Survey results show officers prefer professional experience over research, but exposure to research increases their receptivity. By embedding research in their professional experience, officers are more likely to utilize it effectively. The article presents evidence from surveys and suggests next steps to integrate research into policing practices.
