  2. Objective obtain, process, and interpret available geospatial data using ArcGIS tools and extensions in order to develop a means of estimating direct runoff for the ungaged catchments under consideration

  3. Obtaining Data all project data were downloaded from free websites political boundaries, populated places, roads digital elevation and land cover data precipitation data soil polygons

  4. Processing Data Terrain Analysis Using DEM (TauDEM) Dr. David Tarboton http://hydrology.neng.usu.edu/taudem/ Analysis of Infiltration Characteristics (Soil Conservation Service Method)

  5. Interpreting Data • results of data processing serve as inputs for computation of direct runoff using SCS method as described by Dr. Maidment in several of his books • the composite, or weighted, curve number should be corrected for antecedent moisture condition • curve number then used in conjunction with storm data to calculate excess precipitation • excess precipitation and watershed properties (area, length, slope, etc. from watershed delineation with ArcGIS tools and extensions) are used to calculate discharge • important to recognize limitations of method
