  2. Definitions • Angle of Elevation: the angle through which the eye moves up from the horizon. • Angle of Depression: the angle through which the eye moves down from the horizon.

  3. Example #1 • Find the height above the ground. h 35° 50° x 12

  4. Example #2 • A U.S. Navy Destroyer leaves Norfolk, VA and averages 20 knots (nautical mph) traveling for 3 hours on a course of 61° and then 4 hours on a course of 125°. What is the ships bearing and distance from Norfolk?
