  2. Journal October 22 • Mrs. Pollan bought each of her students a bottle of water that contained one-fifth gallon. If there were ten students in her class, how many gallons of water did she buy?

  3. Board Review • 1. You are growing plants for a science project. One plant is ¾ inches tall. The other plant is 5/8 inches tall. Find the difference in the heights of these plants? • 2. Lillian has Boxer puppies for sale, 7/12 have black paws. By estimating to the nearest half, what fraction of puppies has black paws? (fraction) • 3. Mackenzie’s mom is making shawls for the ladies in the nursing center near their home. Each shawl requires 2 2/6 skeins of yarn. She needs to make 13 of these shawls before Christmas. How many skeins of yarn will she need to purchase? • How many dozen donuts would Mrs. Moore need to purchase for classes on Wednesday? She teaches a total of 54 students every day.

  4. Journal October 23, 2012 Jakyva missed the bus. She has to walk to school. She lives 2 2/5 miles from the school and has already walked 1 7/10 miles. How much farther does she have to walk?
