Purpose of the evaluation “Clarify how and in what ways the Higher Level Skills Partnership is making a positive contribution to skills agenda in the North West” Supported by:
“The knowledge I have gained has added to my credibility as a safety engineer and am now more confident when discussing nuclear related issues with work colleagues, clients and customers.” “I work in the nuclear defence sector and have applied some of my learning to my work; however not all of what I have learnt is relative to my current role, but it may be for future posts.” “Nuclear knowledge helps me to understand the projects coming into the commercial department for approval. I can also query the engineers on price and programme, having knowledge on how the work is to be performed.”

Where were things at? • Higher level skills was embedded in regional/sub-regional strategies • Institutions had prioritised meeting employers’ skills needs • Capacity and capability in institutions was being built to respond • Responsive, tailored and flexible provision was developed and delivered • Sector agencies were actively supporting HE providers
Achieving sustainability • Review/reaffirm mission • Integrate the employer offer • Undertake pro-active sales and marketing • Maintain and strengthen employer relationships • Develop and deliver credible, bespoke, flexible and competitively priced solutions • Work in partnership • Recognise and reward staff • Manage the transition to a new funding model
