  4. Community and Parental Involvement rated Recognized Ortiz Elementary has an active parent center with parents volunteering daily. Ortiz Elementary has CARE partners from businesses in the community who adopt a class and visit with the class once a month. Ortiz Elementary participates in community service projects such as Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive, Superintendent’s Toy Drive, Cancer Walk, Brownsville Police Officers’ Toy Drive, Go Red for Women Campaign, March of Dimes, Pennies for Patients, Jump Rope for Heart, and Rack Room Shoes that Fit.
