  2. Lesson Objectives • To create a logo and shop front for a brand new healthy take away. • All students will create a logo and a shop front • Most students will use a 1 point perspective • Some students will use a 2 point perspective

  3. The Brief • You have been tasked with creating a new healthy take awayfor Young professionals. You must create a name and logo. Later you will be designing the shop front too. • You need to come up with • A cuisine • A name • A logo • A theme (colour, style etc) You will be assessed on how well your ideas meet the brief.

  4. Task 1: Proposal • You need to be able to pitch your ideas to potential investors. To do this, you need to write down your proposed ideas. • Complete the Proposal Sheet with your ideas for your take away, and your designs. • You must explain how your design choices are suitable for a healthy take away/young professionls.

  5. Feedback • Before you start designing your shop you must get feedback from a test buddy. • Swap your proposals with a friend and complete the feedback sheet at the bottom of their sheet. • Remember – your job is to give CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. It is no use saying everything they have thought of is brilliant. • Questions to ask yourself • Is it suited to young professionals? Would they want to go there? • Is it obvious that it is a HEALTHY take away? • Does the logo/shop front convey a healthy message? • Are the logo and shop front consistent in terms of colour/theme? • Are the designs going to be eye catching?

  6. Task 2: Logo Creation • You must create a logo for your take away. • It will be assessed in the following way

Feedback • An important part of the CIDA Coursework is showing that you can respond to feedback of others. • Once you have completed an initial design which you are happy with you must seek feedback and make improvements. We are not expecting you to make huge changes, but you will be able to make small tweaks depending on the feedback you receive. These could be changing the shade of a colour, adding a background, making text larger etc. • Print screen your logo into your progress diary and seek feedback. • Make improvements based on what your test buddy has said

  8. Explaining your design • When you have finished your design you must do 2 things

Task 3 - Shop Front • You must design the front of your shop like it would appear in a high street. • What must my shop front include? • A Fascia (the bit at the top of the shop with the name/logo etc) • A window and a door • Aiming for a level 5 or above? • Include other elements that would make your shop look realistic (people, plants, boards, other shops, street, lamppost etc) • Pay attention to detail. Zoom into your images to get the finer details right. • Make it look realistic. Include gradients where appropriate.

  12. Feedback • Once you’ve completed your shop front design print screen it into your progress diary and seek feedback. • Make improvements based on what your test buddy has said.

  13. Final Marks • Use the marking grid to assess your work. • First swap with your test buddy and fill in the “peer’s opinion” column – don’t forget to work out an average by adding up the grades and dividing by 10! • Now work out what you think – don’t worry if you disagree with your test buddy!
