  1. American gothicparodies After our study of The Great Depression, students analyzed “American Gothic” by Grant Wood. Students then created their very own parody of this famous work. They were encouraged to make a connection to the original piece of work and it’s relationship to The Great Depression. Their writing shows a deep understanding of the time period and it’s events.

  3. American Spider My picture symbolizes the relationship between the Recession and The Great Depression. Venom represents the bad economy. Spiderman represents the people who will work hard to turn around the economy.

  4. Alien Space Attack My picture represents how much things have changed since The Great Depression. My picture reminds us how much things will continue to change into the future. I think what used to be crazy or strange may now be our new normal.

  5. The American SpongeBob My picture represents the relationship between SpongeBob and Squidward. You can see he is annoyed with SpongeBob, even though they work together and face their problems.

  6. Ronald Takes Over Gothic McDonalds is an American icon. During difficult times we can remember the things that make us happy.

  7. American Gothic Minecraft Minecraft Mobs are hated and do not have a place to live because they are made to destroy. My picture symbolizes that we always have something dangerous in our life and we must always be on the lookout for trouble ahead.

  8. American Gothic 2013 My picture represents the modern day economy. Although they look a bit different and updated they are still faced with some of the same challenges.

  10. Life is A Cartoon My American Gothic has been recreated into Porky Pig and Bugs Bunny. My picture represents how sometimes we get on each others nerves, but we need to try and get along always.

  11. Herbert Hoover vs. FDR Hoover could not prevent The Great Depression. FDR cared and helped during the time of need.

  12. American Gothic 2013 My picture compares today from The Great Depression. Barack and Michelle Obama represent a new time. Many Americans are still faced with the same challenges.

  13. Super Bowl 47 My picture represents HOPE. Before the game they are filled with hope for the future. It is amazing that they have gotten this far together.

  14. Cats and Dogs Like the Great Depression, not everyone or every animal gets along. Our goal is to keep the peace and sometimes we are successful.

  15. Batman Saves the Day My picture represents FDR (Batman) fighting off The Great Depression (shark). Batman saves the day using ideas and solutions that work.

  16. Congress My picture symbolizes how different we are, but even though we may not agree on everything in the end we have the American dream.
