3. Ocean Basin Anywhere Earth that is covered by seawater, but geologically ocean basins are large geologic basins that are below sea level. Sea Floor Spreading A process that occurs at mid-ocean ridges, where new oceanic crust is formed through volcanic activity and then gradually moves away from the ridge. Seafloor spreading helps explain continental drift in the theory of plate tectonics

4. Volcanic Eruptions A volcano can be simply defined as a rupture or an opening on the crust of a planet like earth. This opening allows hot ash, molten rock and gases to flow out from underground spaces. Volcanoes generally acquire shape of a mountain and are usually found at places where tectonic plates get converged or diverged. Mountain Building Occurs when 2 convergent plates come together forcing them to buckle and rise, creating mountains and mountain ranges. When plates move towards each other, rather than one sinking below the other, they may crumple into each other. The result is mountain-building. This is how the Himalayas were formed when the Indian subcontinent collided with Asia.

5. Earthquakes An earthquake is a sudden movement of the Earth, caused by the abrupt release of strain that has accumulated over a long time. Transform plate movement takes place when two plates move sideways and rub against each other. The result is likely to be an earthquake.
