Types of bullying • 1. Verbal bullying 2. Bullying through social exclusion or isolation3. Physical bullying 4. Bullying through lies and false rumors5. Having money or other things taken or damaged by students who bully6. Being threatened or being forced to do things by students who bully7. Racial bullying8. Sexual bullying9. Cyber bullying (via cell phone or Internet)

People who watch may feel • Fearful • Powerless to act • Guilty for not acting • Tempted to participate
What do I do if I am bullied • Ask the other kid to stop • Report to a teacher and parents • Keep documentation on when it occurs • Call the police or your School resource Officer • If it continues you may move to press harassment or Assault charges.
Utah laws and bullying • 76-5-106.Harassment. (1) A person is guilty of harassment if, with intent to frighten or harass another, he communicates a written or recorded threat to commit any violent felony. (2) Harassment is a class B misdemeanor.
Utah Laws and bullying • 76-5-102.Assault. (1) Assault is: (a) an attempt, with unlawful force or violence, to do bodily injury to another; (b) a threat, accompanied by a show of immediate force or violence, to do bodily injury to another; or (c) an act, committed with unlawful force or violence, that causes bodily injury to another or creates a substantial risk of bodily injury to another. (2) Assault is a class B misdemeanor. (3) Assault is a class A misdemeanor if: (a) the person causes substantial bodily injury to another; or (b) the victim is pregnant and the person has knowledge of the pregnancy. (4) It is not a defense against assault, that the accused caused serious bodily injury to another.
