Section 4: Complementary/Supportive Complementary/Supportive Team Teaching Definition • One teacher is responsible for teaching the content to the students • The other teacher takes charge of providing follow-up activities on related topics or on study skills.
Section 4: Complementary/Supportive Complementary/Supportive Team Teaching Example • An automotive class is learning how to repair a transmission. • One teacher uses the automotive text and diagrams to teach students how to tear apart and rebuild transmissions. • The other teacher teaches a math lesson about ratios and proportions, using gear ratios to illustrate.
Section 4: Complementary/Supportive Activity With your teaching partner, brainstorm instructional activities specifically linked to the subject or program you plan to teach where you could use Complementary/Supportive Team Teaching. Discuss times and situations where you have used the Complementary/Supportive Team Teaching model in the classroom.
