Application Note #1004-01R2 Orion Serial-to-Serial Pass-Through to DPU/TPU2000R Relays Engineering Workstation Running WinECP SCADA Master The following slides detail how Orion and WinECP must be configured to set up a pass through connection as shown here Connection for SCADA Data 10-Byte RS232 pass through connection for WinECP DNP3.0 Connection for SCADA Data 10-Byte Connection for WinECP RS485 Multidrop Alternate Configuration
Using NovaTech Communication Director (NCD) offline, set up one of the rear ports as an “MMI Interface” port. This is required because the front port on Orion is fixed at 19.2kB and WinECP cannot support a baud rate that high. Note: Accessing Orion via dial-up or Ethernet is also possible. This note details only direct physical connection via RS232. Set the comm parameters of the MMI Interface port to the same parameters as the comm port on the PC.
Select “Passthru Interface” on the port where the DPU2000R relay will be attached. Some versions of NCD refer to “Passthru Interface” as “Direct Interface Client”. Set the comm parameters of the Passthru port to the same parameters as the comm port on the DPU2000R relay
Pass Through configuration complete. Now download configuration to Orion.
While online with Orion in a terminal emulation session, make selections to get to Pass Through mode. Select the port desired for pass through. When in Pass Through Mode, close out the session, but not using CTRL-X. This will leave the port open for pass through.
Open WinECP, select Direct Access Make sure comm parameters match the ones set on Orion. Connect. Note: If multiple DPU2000R units are connected to the Pass Through port on Orion, select desired unit number.
