  3. What does a Chemist do? • They transform everyday materials into the amazing things you see and use everyday. • What are some things that you use that you could not live without?

  4. Textile Chemistry • It takes a chemist to come up with the fabrics and materials that make our clothes and shoes. • Think of the special clothing that the Olympians wore this summer.

  5. How does this involve Chemistry?

  6. Pyro technician • These scientists study and use chemicals to create explosions, fireworks and basically all the things that go BOOM!

  7. Example of Pyro-technician's Job

  8. Food Chemistry • Yes it is true that cooking is one of the most common forms of chemistry. • McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and every food product you find in the grocery store needs chemists to create their food.

  9. Biotechnology • How many of you have been to the doctor? • How many of you have received medication from the doctor? • Without chemists these medications would not exist.

  10. Water Chemistry • Even the water we drink every day is cleaned and purified by chemists. • Without the chemistry that goes into our water we would be at risk of some very bad diseases.

  11. Can you think of any other professions that might need chemistry to exist?
