JMG Responds JMG Enterprises,Inc. has been blending and manufacturing emulsion products used in dust control and soil stabilization for the last 15 years. During the new millennium JMG retained the services of emulsion experts, laboratories, and Research & Development personnel to develop a line of emulsion products that are: • extremely stable • easy to apply • proven environmentally safe • reasonably priced Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility provides absolute quality control and dependable consistency.
Ultra Bond 2000TM Ultra Bond 2000TMis a specially engineered formulation of water based emulsified resin designed for use as a dust suppressant for soil stabilization. It has been effectively used on state, county, township and city roads and has been particularly effective in mining and heavy manufacturing applications such as rock quarries, coal mines, truck terminals and steel mills. Ultra Bond 2000TM: • Consolidates the road surface • Reduces Loss of Road Material • Dust andErosion • Lengthens Maintenance Intervals
Health & Safety Ultra Bond 2000TM is a light brown colored liquid with no objectionable odor. Under PennDOT regulation, Ultra Bond is not classified as a hazardous substance. The emulsion is water-base, and there fore poses little in the way of fire hazards. Analyses of Ultra Bond confirm that it does not contain any of the family of RCRA or PA Module 25 metals above trace concentrations. Bioassays for daphnia and trout have successfully demonstrated its effectiveness in environmentally sensitive applications. Ultra Bond 2000TM is a non-placarded materials for transportation which has received approval for the use on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania roads.

Environmental SafetySPLP and PCB Ultra Bond 2000TM has been evaluated under the protocol for the Synthetic Precipitation Leach Procedure [SPLP] and evaluated against PA DEP Module 25 release limits to ensure that there are no elemental releases that may cause environmental harm. Polychlorinated biphenyl compounds were also subjected to characterization under this test protocol. None of the seven PCB compounds were present above the experimental detection limits of 4 parts-per-billion.
Environmental SafetyAcute Ceriodaphnia dubia and Oncorhynchus mykiss Survival Tests To demonstrate that storm run-off from roadways treated with Ultra Bond 2000TM will not harm aquatic life, both the “Acute Ceriodaphnia dubia Survival Test” and “Acute Oncorhynchus mykiss Survival Test” were run on an emulsion/water mixture typically used in practice. The Maximum Acceptable Toxicant Concentration [also reported as ChV, the Chronic Value] for the 96-hour rainbow trout test for survival and growth were 1060 and 214mg/L, respectively. For the 48-hour Median Lethal Concentration [LC50] a value of 1060mg/L was measured. The EPA rates the LC50 of >100mg/L as “practically non-toxic.” The parallel studies indicated that the daphnia were slightly more sensitive with Maximum Acceptable Toxicant Concentration [also reported as ChV, the Chronic Value] for survival and reproduction measured at 212 and 76mg/L, respectively. Median Lethal Concentration [LC50] was measured at 924mg/L.
Ultra Bond-sand compositeelectron microscopy SEM studies performed by the Materials Research Laboratory at PSU reveal that “Ultra Bond has coated the sand and has formed bridges between the particles and that Ultra Bond is not fracturing cleanly but is rather gradually failing in a more ductile manner. This suggests that the Ultra Bond, even when dry is retaining some plastic characteristics. These bridges are likely responsible for the development of strength in the cured composite.”
Sweep Samples Union County, PA The Center for Dirt & Gravel Road Studies together with the Bald Eagle State Forest District has been monitoring the effectiveness of dust suppressants on a stretch of White Deer Creek Road, Union County PA. The pictured samples represent the loose material collected on areas where JMG Emulsion products were applied and the buffer sections in between, where no product was applied.
Environmental Objectives of JMG Emulsions • To reduce Erosion Sediment and Dust Pollution originating from unpaved roads • To introduce Environmentally Sound maintenance practices • To encourage participation in available Education efforts and Grant opportunities
JMG EmulsionsProduct application The three basic methods of applying Ultra Bond 2000TM are: • Topical Application • Mini Stabilization • Full Depth Stabilization and incorporation
Successful product application performancedepends upon: • Thorough preparation of the site • Road surface must be free of ALL irregularities • If geo-textile is required it must be in place and fully completed • If stabilization is to be performed, the surface to be milled must have adequate depth (7-8”) as not to interfere with the milling process • All water control measures must be completed • Required equipment must be on site and ready to work (i.e. roller or grader)
Topical application • Road preparation (prior to application) • Proper road profiling and crowning • Any required equipment (i.e. roller) must be on the site and ready to work on the date of scheduled application.
Proper road preparation If DSA is being used, it must be in place prior to scheduled application Proper water control measures must be completed prior to scheduled application Any required equipment (grader, roller) must be on the site and ready to work “Mini Stabilization”Scarification Method
Mini stabilization process • The Mini Stabilization Method steps: • Thoroughly scarify the aggregate or road base • Injection of Ultra Bond 2000TM stabilizing agent • Wind row the injected road material • Feather the surface • Repeat the injection, wind row, & feathering process UNTIL the road material reaches the optimum moisture content of 6% to 7% (one can make a “meatball” out of the road material when it reaches this consistency) • Final profiling / crowning • Roll for optimum impaction • Top shoot • Return in 10-14 days to top shoot final dressing
Full depthstabilization / incorporation • Steps of the process • All water control measures must be completed • Geo-textiles (if appropriate) must be completed • All large rocks or other foreign materials must be removed (pre-scarify to a depth of 7” – 8” if necessary) • Full depth milling • Inject Ultra Bond 2000 stabilizing agent • Repeat full depth milling • Re-inject Ultra Bond 2000 stabilizing agent • Make determination if optimum moisture content (6% - 7%) is achieved • Repeat milling only if necessary • Proper profiling / crowning • Roll • Top dress with Ultra Bond 2000 • Return in 10-14 days for final seal coat
