What is Making It Real? • An outcome framework agreed by Think Local Act Personal • 6 Themes & 24 “I” statements • National network to share practice • Something to measure ourselves against • Something to aspire to in challenging times
6 Outcome Themes24 “I” statements • Information and Advice • Active and Supportive Communities • Flexible integrated care and support • Workforce • Risk enablement (positive risk taking) • Personal budgets and self-funding

How is Adult Services approaching Making It Real? • Linking the Making It Real themes to our annual performance reporting work in preparation to publish a “Local Account” • Identifying resources that support the themes • Holding workshops and events with service users, carers and providers to understand what needs to change to “Make It Real”
How does this affect us? • Many of the themes will be familiar • As for us, existing work streams can take forward specific themes eg. information • As for us, the way we engage with service users and carers to ensure “I” statements are achieved and evidenced will be important • As for us, how we enable communities to develop is key to reducing unnecessary dependency
Active and Supportive Communities • “I have access to a range of support that helps me live the life I want and remain a contributing member of my community” • “I have a network of people who support me – carers, friends, family, community and paid staff if needed”
I have opportunities to train, study, work or engage in activities that match my interests, skills and abilities” • “I feel welcomed and included in my local community” • “I feel valued for the contribution that I can make to my community”
