S Course Selection V • The master schedule for the school is constructed based on the needs and wishes of the student body at large • Attempt to fulfill the requests of the maximum number of students • Courses will only be scheduled if there is adequate student enrollment and teacher availability • Numerous excellent classes offered to accommodate all types of skill levels and interests

  9. S Electives V • Electives are weighted at the accelerated level. All electives are weighted the same. • Examples of electives: • Anatomy • Band • Chorus • Art Classes • Forensics • Psychology • Intro to Business (Freshmen) • Astronomy (Freshmen)

  10. Delaware County Technical Programs • Applications are due now • Programs run in afternoon daily • Need to be on track with your graduating class • Upper classmen only • Due to the need to get all credits before graduation

S V Reading the Course Selection Guide 700 Art Foundations I X (Grades 9-12) Credits: 1.0 PPC 6 LAB FEE $5.00 Prerequisites: None In this beginning course students learn to recognize the elements and principles of design and use them in a variety of art media and techniques. Students are provided with opportunities to work in the studio areas of drawing, painting, collage, book arts, sculpture, and printmaking. The course includes the four problem-solving areas of art: art criticism, aesthetics, art history, and art production. There is a $5.00 lab fee for this class

  12. S Accelerated (X) V • Describes those courses that make up the major core of the curricula • Designed to: • Increase knowledge of the basic subject areas • Prepare for continuing education after high school

  13. Honors (H) • For high-achieving students who excel academically • Demonstrate an ability to express themselves effectively via various mediums • High expectations of performance and achievement

  14. Advanced Placement (AP) • No Freshman classes (Starts Sophomore YR) • Intended for academically talented students • Abilities, interests, and demonstrated levels of performance are considered • They will do difficult, college-level work in high school (summer work is involved) • May earn college credit at some colleges • AP Tests administered by ETS and are taken in May yearly (Fee for the exam)
