What do you first thing see when you see this book cover? • What’s the second thing you see on the cover • Why did you think they used this picture for the book cover? • What do you think this cover says about our society? • Why do you think that Branded (the main title) is black and the subtitle is in yellow?
The first thing I saw was the red tank top and I think they put that in there to catch our eye because that is where all the writing is. • The second thing I saw was the skin of the belly is a different tone then the other skin that is showing. • I think they used this cover to show how most teens dress in this time in day. • I think the cover shows how much society has change over the year because ten years ago year wouldn’t see as many people dress in clothes that show your belly and you see a lot of people dress like this. • I think that they wanted to put a little more emphasis on the subtitle so you would be looking all though the book trying to find out what it’s about.
What appeals does this cover have? • I think the appeals are Logos ,Ethos and Pathos. I think logos because you can go out and find teens buying clothes the show a lot of skin and they spend a lot of money just on a tank top and a pair of blue jeans, just going by the cover. I also think ethos because it can go against peoples believe, now you wouldn’t think people would be offended about what people wear but I could find people who are.
Appeals con. • It also has pathos because when you look in the right hand corner of the book, New York Timessays “ Deservers and Command Wide Attention of Million Families.” Some people would be like “Omg I can save money just by not buying my kid high price clothes,” and it gets their emotions running.
Do you think this cover is appealing? • I think it is because it makes you want to read and see what they think about how they think us teens dress and why we spend so much money on some clothes that you can buy some where else for cheaper and could have better quality of clothing.
