Rhythm of Sleep • Circadian Rhythms occur on a 24-hour cycle and include sleep and wakefulness. (Our biological time clock) • Controlled by the Hypothalamus, specifically theSuprachiasmaticnucleus (SCN) • Receives input from the eyes & is especially sensitive to the light and dark cycles of day and night *Responsible for our varying levels of arousal throughout the course of the day.
Critical Considerations: Does not address the neuroscience of dreams.
*It is an induced state of awareness, usually characterized by heighted suggestibility, deep relaxation and highly focused attention
