Evolution of Concept • 1999 will move to new ‘paperless’ PFI hospital • 2003 still using request cards! • 2004 clin details should appear on PACS • 2006 still using request cards! • 2007 clin details in notepad on RIS • 2008 clin details appear in report box as permanent record • 2008 electronic requesting being rolled out • 2011 getting better, slowly!

  6. Clinicians reactions • I don’t make requests, I give orders • I cannot type • I have not got time for this • My secretary does my requesting • Why change to a slower system • It took me 5 mins on your system, I timed it
