  2. WHAT WERE THE MIDDLE AGES ? • The Middle Ages was a time in history 600 years ago that lasted about 1200 years! In what is now Europe. Europe

  3. Things that might remind you of the middle ages: Knights Horses Swords Armour Castles

  4. kids lived during this time as well. • In some ways they were the same. • But they also lived quite different than you did too.

  5. BUT IN WHAT KINDS OF WAYS?

  6. CLOTHING • They did not wear jeans and t-shirts like you do . Boys shirt Here are some mittens and a shirt from the middle ages If they could afford it, they would wear shoes Here is a painting of a dress worn by a girl in the middle ages

  7. DID THEY GO TO SCHOOL? • Most kids did not have enough money to go to school. • They were very lucky if they were able learn how to read and write. • Only the rich families had enough money to pay for schooling for their kids. Painting of kids in school School children in the Middle Ages

  8. WHAT DID THEY EAT? • Rich families and their kids ate foods like fresh meat and vegetables as well as fruit freshly picked from the tree. • While the poorer families ate mostly bread, cheese, and some meat but many times it was not fresh so it was preserved by salt so it would last longer.

  9. WHAT DID THEY PLAY? • They played marbles, hop scotch, and hoops • A lot of the times they pretended they were adults, boys played knights while girls played with dolls • They swam, wrestled and climbed trees.   10. TOYS!!!!!! • Most toys were home made like wooden swords or dolls made out of old rags. Figurines were made of wood or dried clay. Clay figurines that are 600 years old! Tops and dice Children playing Toy horse

  12. CONCLUSION • Are children from the middle ages the same or are they different? • Would you have liked to live in the middle ages? • Talk with your teacher on how you live the same and how you live different.
