Welcome to AP & Studio Art • AP • Students that will complete a portfolio of 24 art pieces to the AP board • Studio • Students that are working on their portfolio and improving their art skills in hopes to take AP next year or that want to improve their art skills
So you’re in this class… If you are in this class it means that you already took Art A/B or Foundations I/II, if not let’s talk during class Do you know of someone who should be in this class but isn’t?
So why take the AP exam? • College credit! • See how you compare to other artists around the world! • Challenge yourself • Make more art than ever!
What we will normally do • In class activities – Mini projects • Technique lessons • Studio Time • Read two books as a class(also listen to on audio)
Other fun things! • State Art Show! • Compete and attend • Maybe a field trip to the Ogden Nature Center to draw or a hike up to the trails to draw(pending approval) • Winter Art Show at school • Art Gala in Feb/March • Festival of Arts at Ogden Eccles Center
Fees • $15- fee • $7- for fee wavier • Fees go to buy supplies for class that you all use • Pay your fee get your sketchbook!
Sketchbooks • Sketch on the whole thing • Try to sketch on only one side incase we need to take out pages for your AP portfolio to be sent in
Class Rule Stuff • Clean-up a mess you make or a mess you find • Help each other out(give constructive advice that is helpful not hurtful) • No food, only water(the price of having Griffin in class) • Put supplies back where you found them
Time for some fun! • Preparing Canvases to work on: • Gesso two pieces of cardboard • Gesso two pieces of cardboard and make a mountain with the paper towel and glue mixture • Make a collage using magazines on a piece of cardboard • Make sure to write your name on the back of all your pieces of cardboard and the class per. • You should have 5 canvases when you are done!
Done Early • Help prepare watercolor paper on the boards to do a painting for next class
