Intervene in improving the performance of the skills delivery pipeline
Transform and consolidate the regulatory, institutional and structural framework regulating the functioning of the CBE and the professional councils
Improve stakeholder relations and create partnerships to improve service delivery
Ensure the alignment of the activities of the CBE and the BE professional councils with national imperatives and initiatives This is an instructive objective which aims to ensure alignment between the councils and national agenda. This is taken care of through the alignment of activities with mandates and also with the country’s development indicators. It permeates through all activities and is a guiding principle for the CBE. This also takes care of responses to requests for participation in initiatives of the Department.
Challenges • Lack of integrated planning with the councils • Inadequate funding • Councils that are unable to deal with their mandates sufficiently due to funding
Future Focus • Driving the skills pipeline • Promoting integrated planning and implementation • Providing “intelligence” for policy-making
Conclusion • The organisation has grown exponentially in the past two years • Lack of integration remains a challenge • Funding of smaller councils need consideration.
