Used when the FO believes adjustments will be made before all rounds will be on target. • Fire For Effect: FO is confident all munitions will effect target on first round of firing, all guns in battery fire. • Suppression: Pre planned fire on an inactive target. • Immediate Suppression/Smoke: Used for targets of opportunity. The Observer ID and Warning Order are combined into a single transmission on the radio. “Alpha one six this is charlie one seven, fire for effect over.”

The target location makes up the second transmission. “Alpha one six this is charlie one seven, fire for effect over.” BREAK “Location: ET123456, over”

  6. Target Description • Describe the target in detail and size. Include if the target is in cover, include this in the description. “Platoon of infantry in treeline.” “Column of tanks in the open.” Method of Engagement • Trajectory can be requested. Used for targets in treelines/bunkers. • W/P (White Phosphorous): Used against equipment i.e. helicopters. • Smoke • Illumination • Copperhead: Laser guided anti armor round: phased out • FASCAM: contains multiple mines “Alpha one six this is charlie one seven, fire for effect over.” BREAK “Location: ET123456, over” BREAK “Platoon of infantry in the open, ICM in effect, over.”

  8. Method of Fire and Control • On My Command: Guns will fire when the FO tells them to. • Repeat: Fire again using same data and coordinates.
