In fact, itseemsthatthisfunnycharactercomesfromstoriesofNasrudinHedjia, a Turkish folk character. Itisbelievedthatduringthe Islamicrule, storiesofthis man wereabsorbedinto the Sicilianoraltradition, transformedtoexemplify cultural norms and eventuallytransmittedthroughoutsouthern Italy.
