Integrated Education and Training (IET) How Does It Work?
3 Adult Learning Theories • Andragogy • Self directed, motivated • Draws from life experiences • Problem centered • Self-Directed Learning (SDL) • Individuals take the initiative for their learning • Transformative Learning (TL) • Learning that changes the way individuals think about themselves and their world
3 Required Components 1. Adult education and literacy activities2. Workforce prep – academic skills, critical thinking skills, digital literacy skills, self management skills3. Workforce training for a specific occupation – occupation skills training – on-the-job-training (OJT)
The adult education and literacy activities, workforce preparation activities, and workforce training must be provided concurrently and contextually such that: 1. Each are of sufficient intensity and quality; 2. Occur simultaneously; and 3. Use occupationally relevant instructional materials in all 3 components.
