  2. ME10004: Solid Mechanics • There were 122 males and 14 females • The average age was 18 and ½ • A 1st year unit in Mechanical Engineering. • 80 diaries • Two Focus groups

  3. ME10004: Solid Mechanics • They were given a pre-test and post-test to measure how much they have learnt • They scored 7.7 (2.5) on the pre-test and 9.2 (2.8) • There was a significant improvement

  8. ME30067: Vehicle Dynamics • There were 15 (14 males and 1 female) students and they had an average age of 21 ½ • It was a third year unit. • They scored 2.7 (1.5) on the pre-test and 3.9 (1.7) on the post-test • There was a significant improvement

  12. IMI Nationals: Motor Vehicle Engineering • There were 14 students, all male and they had an average age of 17. • They scored 21.4 (7.4) in the pre-test and 22.4 (5.5) in the post-test. • The students did improve but this improvement was not significant • 17 diaries and 1 focus group

  16. BTEC Motor vehicle engineering • There were 18 (17 males and 1 female) students • An average age of 19. • They scored 16.5 (4.6) in the pre-test and 20.33 (5.5) in the post-test. • There was a significant improvement • 18 diaries and 1 focus group

  24. Next Step • Analyse the student focus groups • Interview the Lecturers • Using the analytical framework to investigate the institutional impact of the project.
