  4. Go to http://docs.google.comand log-in or sign-up Once you are signed in, youshould see this view: Step 1 – Create an Account

  5. Go to the “Political Scrapbook” Page on the Course Wiki • Click on the “Google Doc Template” Link • The document will open. • If you are not already signed in to your account, sign-in now. Step 2 – Get the Benchmarks Template

  6. Go to “File” and select “Save a new copy” The title will now read “Copy of Benchmarks” Go to “File” and select “Rename” In the dialogue box, rename the document “Benchmarks_Last_First” …Almost ready to begin… Step 3 – Rename the Benchmark Template

  7. Go to “share”, and select “invite people”. Step 4 – Add me as a Collaborator

  8. In the “Invite” box, type in my email address: cbrown@mnsd.org Select “send” at the bottom of the dialogue box and you’re ready to begin Using Google Docs Now, each time you add content to your document, I will automatically receive it.

  9. Using Wordle and Screen Captures

  10. Take a screen capture (print screen) of your Wordle Paste it into Power Point and crop out unwanted parts Save your Power Point slide in JPEG Interchange Format The following slides provide a visual representation of the procedure… Transforming your “wordle” into an image

  11. Print Screen Press “CTRL” and “Print Screen” at the same time When you press “CTRL” and “Print Screen” at the same time, a picture of your entire computer screen is taken…

  12. Now that you took the “screen capture”… • Open a new Power Point document • Select “CTRL” + “V” to paste your screen capture onto the slide • Follow the steps on the following slides to crop your Wordle and save it as an image (JPEG) file Paste your screen capture into PowerPOint

  14. Cropping an image in powerpoint Select the “crop” button, and crop your picture to remove unwanted parts..

Go to File  Save As • In the “File Name”, type Wordle • Use the drop down menu in the “Save as type” window to select “JPEG File Interchange Format. • When prompted, select “export current slide only”. • Now your Wordle is a “picture” and can be inserted into the Power Point for your final product!   16. Creating Non-linear actions

  17. A non-linear action makes the movement from one slide to another within the PowerPoint non- sequential. You can assign a “hyperlink” to an image or text, and when you click on it, you will be re-directed to another slide in the Power Point.   19. To add a hyperlink… • Go to “Insert”  “Hyperlink” Non-linear actions

  20. The “Insert Hyperlink” box will appear • On the left, select “Link to” Place in This Document • Select the slide from the “Slide Titles” and click OK. Non-linear actions

When re-directed to the new slide, you should insert a “button” on the bottom right corner that will take you back to the original slide. • You can use any type of clip art or image as your “button”. • Follow the procedure, as discussed on the previous slide. • In the corner of this slide, I have “modeled” the button feature. Click on it to return to the first slide we looked at on this topic. Non-linear actions
