A Few Facts About ○ Located in Northwestern Arizona (Surprise, AZ) ○ Fastest growing school system in Arizona ○ Since 2000 has tripled in growth ○ Grown from 7,000 to 25,000 students ○ Added 15 elementary and 3 high schools ○ AdvancED Accreditation, NCA Model School District, and NSBA Technology Spotlight Award
○ Approved by the state 2010 ○ Students state-wide may attend ○ Eligible for state funding ○ Help our own students and keep funding
We are a “Homegrown” program ○ Create our own courses ○ Teachers from our district ○ Provide professional development ○ Provide technical support ○ Using Moodle as LMS
○ Offer 46 semester based high school classes ○ Developing middle school classes ○ Course enrollments of 1,000-2,000 per year ○ Completion rates improving- 30% to 59% to 86% ○ Piloting blended learning classes
○ 62% credit recovery + 38% first time ○ West-Mec students ○ Homebound students ○ Full time students ○ Students who did not complete high school
