The Christian Life The Different States of Life
Which Way You Dedicate Your Life To God Priesthood Ascetic Life Married Life
Married Life • A Divine Vocation • Marriage is the Plan of God for man and woman to be one • God only recognizes marriage between man and woman • That was His Divine design for the family as according to the book of Genesis • Do not accept anyother thoughts or ideas from this world/politics of marriage other than between man and woman • Under God, we as Catholics are united in this stance • You are the salt and light of the world • A Holy Unity • Abraham and Sarah • Isaac and Rebekah • Jacob and Rachel
The Sacrament of Marriage God’s Grace is needed for a marriage to work “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?” -2 Corinthians 6:14
Priesthood • Specially chosen by God to serve Him and His Glorious Will • A Priest is an intermediary between God and man • Who is the Supreme Priest? Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ • Jesus desired to continue his priestly service till the end of the world.
Priesthood • Three fundamental duties: • To Teach • To Sanctify • To Lead • God Himself does these three things • The priest is a delegate of God and preaches the Word of God in his name, administers sacraments, and gives spiritual leadership.
Ascetic Life • Those who fully dedicate themselves by three things • Obedience • Poverty • Chastity • What does it mean by Poverty? • Giving everything to others without possessing anything for self. • Loving all people, to love God above all, to love the universe • Seeking the pleasure and joy of others without seeking one’s own pleasure and joy
Your Vocation At your age (pre-high school), you should begin devoting yourself to prayer and studying God’s Word Marriage, Priesthood, and Ascetic ALL require a close personal relationship with our Lord through prayer and studying God’s Word.
Where is your personal prayer life today? Are you reading + STUDYING the Word of God apart from school (catholic or public) and family? If you don’t make these things the MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF YOUR LIFE, how will you be able to hear God’s voice in making these important decisions?
