  1. Taco Tuesday Dan Bianchini, Jessica Kanaan and Ben Lambert

  2. The man who made it happen… • JACOBY ELLSBURY

  3. “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” • Taco Bell’s promise: any stolen base in the World Series = free taco’s for America. • Jacoby stole second base in the fourth inning of game 2 in the 2007 World Series. • Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., local time. • Only eligible taco was the crunchy seasoned beef taco, valued at $0.77.

  4. Why Taco Bell? • Taco Bell had wagered that nobody would steal a base in the World Series, and if they lost the result would be free tacos for everyone in America. • Taco Bell was known for it’s promotion in the 2004 World Series between the Red Sox and Cardinals, “Taco Bell Target”.

  5. Strengths of Promotion • No costs in advertising: media took over after announcement • Taco Bell aimed at brand recognition and good will with their customers, both existing and new. • Promotion pays for itself

  6. Contributions • The Taco Bell campaign also included donating $20,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America in Jacoby Ellsbury’s name. • Soon after, T-shirts were being sold with the logo “Tacoby Shellsbury” for $16.00 each. • Taco Bell had expected to give away millions of tacos nationally within the 3 hour span.
