  2. Medical Summaries: Medical Summary also referred to as Medical Chronology and Medical Synopsis is a document consisting of the events that have taken place in a patient’s treatment. Summarizing of medical records is a very important part of a personal injury, mass tort, nursing home abuse, long-term care, medical malpractice and allied cases.

  3. Summaries are of two types: 1.Comprehensive medical summary 2. Narrative summary

Comprehensive medical summary In a comprehensive medical summary, the physician reviews the entire set of medical records and captures events that are relevant to the case, including important points pertaining to the case. It is captured chronologically with hot-linked bate numbers for easy reference to the relevant records. In this summary no relevant data is missed out, so the reviewer gets a comprehensive summary that is required for the case. Narrative summary Narrative summary is usually done before accepting a case. It gives a fair understanding of whether the case is worth fighting for on not. This summary is a gist of the entire medical records, summarized in a page or two, so the reviewer does not have to spend too much of time in analyzing the value of a case. This summary may not be captured chronologically nor would be good enough to understand the timeline of events. It may, however, have reference to the records, so you know where it is coming from.
