JUST KIDDING! Welcome to..
CKI Circle K International Advertising & MarketingYour Club
About the Presenter Name: Daniel Ha 4th Year @ CSUF Communications/Advertising Major American Studies 2nd Major 2008-2009 Magic Kingdom LTG 2009-2010 CSUF CKI President 2010-2011 CNH District Governor
My Objective To help you understand how to gain recognition for your club in your community through advertising and positioning your club as the only source of meaningful service, true leadership, and valuable fellowship experiences.
What is Advertising? • “The Art of the Sell.” • Getting your message out there • Getting your image out there
What is Your Message? • Know what your club’s strengths are • What makes your club YOUR club? • Service? • Membership? • Fundraising? • Other?
What is Your Message? • “What’s in it for me?” • Most important thing to keep in mind when promoting your club. • What can YOUR Circle K club do for prospective members that no other club on your campus can? • Provide Service? Wrong. • Provide Leadership? Wrong. • Provide Fellowship? Wrong. • All of the above + more? CORRECT!
Icebreaker! Who’s that Company!?
Its Nike!
Icebreaker! • What makes these companies so recognizable? • Consistent Branding of their company’s image • What makes their Brands so successful? • People know what their companies stand for
OUR Image • The power of the “K” • It’s memorable • It’s recognizable • By Kiwanians • By Key Clubbers • By Communities
Graphic Standards • WWW.CIRCLEK.ORG
Promoting Your Club • Take advantage of opportunities: • Sign up and prepare for Club Rushes • Table & Flyer Weekly / Daily • Host Service Projects on Campus during peak times • Post meeting info on School Bulletin Boards / Marquees • “Chalk” on EVERY classroom’s chalkboard / whiteboard before class • Host an Orientation for new students / members • Spread the word, by mouth!
Marketing to Members • What kind of members do you want? • Members who just want to do Service? • Talk to Fraternities and Sororities who have a Service Hour requirement. • They won’t be as committed to Leadership and Fellowship. • Members who just want Leadership training? • Talk to Business and Communications departments where Leadership is a requirement for their careers. • They won’t be as interested in the Service. • Members who just want to Socialize and Network? • Promote your club as an “International Collegiate Organization with 52 clubs and 2010+ members in colleges and universities across California, Nevada, and Hawaii”. • They will most likely leave the club once the “fun” ends. • You get what you promote and the type of members you get reflects your current leadership.
