What are the most important reasons to take A.P. U.S. History? 1. Developing one’s historical writing skills • Detailed information will further develop a love of history • Prepare for the A.P. Exam • Passing the A.P. exam could mean saving $$ at college
A.P. Exam Information • Prep Books are suggested • REA is a favorite because of the numerous practice exams and excellent summaries • This book covers BOTH AP courses. I only teach the U.S. portion.
Grades • 30% homework • 55% exams • 15% terms quizzes • I will send home progress reports at each grading period. • You can always ask for a grade update. I can email grades through my grade program. • Stay updated on grades and attendance through Parent Connect (link can be found on our class website)
1st Semester ProjectU.S. Presidents • Each student will: • Be assigned a President • Research • election history • domestic and foreign issues • Significant events during Presidency • Determine most significant contribution • Present information to classmates via PowerPoint
2nd Semester ProjectTime Capsule (After A.P. exam) • Student selected groups will: • Be assigned an era of U.S. History • Make artifacts to represent significant parts of that era • Write a guidebook explaining the artifact and what it represents • Present time capsules to their classmates
