East SC Compared to West SC • Obesity: Eastern Summit County about two times higher than Western Summit County • Diabetes: Eastern Summit County about 25% higher than Western Summit County • High Blood Pressure: Eastern Summit County about 50% higher than Western Summit County • Current Smoker: Eastern Summit County about two times higher than Western Summit County AND higher than Utah

Create Your Local Example • As Diabetes Educators you are used to advocating for individual patients • You are also in a position to advocate for underserved populations in your areas…YOU are the expert • You have access to local and state data through your Local Health Departments and the Utah Department of Health • Use the data to build your case, tell your story, and advocate for your local populations in need
