Procedural Directives • Procedure for Scientific Records Appraisal and Approval (What to Archive), completed in 2008 • step by step procedure that NOAA data managers use to identify, appraise, and decide what scientific records are preserved in a NOAA archive • NOAA Data Architecture Guidance For IT Capital Planners, completed in 2010 • practical guidance for IT capital planners and IT program managers for ensuring new data management requirements are adequately considered in the development of life-cycle cost projections • Development of Data Management Plans, in process FY11 • practical “how to” instructions for plan content and relevance • Data Sharing Policy for NOAA Grants, in process FY11 • Archive Architecture CONOPS , in process FY11 Prepared by Environmental Data Management Committee for DAARWG

Other Candidate Areas for Procedural Directives • Metadata- Developing and maintaining metadata throughout the environmental data lifecycle that comply with standards • Submission of Data and Tools to Data.gov • Data Stewardship - Conducting scientific data stewardship to address data content, access, and user understanding • Data Sharing - Providing for data access and dissemination • Data Integration - Enabling integration and/or interoperability with other information and products • Data Archival - Providing for delivery to the archive and secure storage and addressing  NARA records administration requirements • Data Management Planning -Developing and following data management plans that are coordinated with the appropriate NOAA archive for all observing and data management systems.
