Relationship to humans • Not a good idea to be around lions because they are a wild animal.
Dimensions • Has a oval body with 4 legs and is similar to a house cat. • Length males- 5.6 to 8.3 feet females- 4.6 to 5.7 feet. • Height males- 1.3m females- 90cm. • Weight can weigh between 250 550 pounds depending on sex and age.
Habitat • Lions live in prairies, semi-arid plains and savannah grasslands within southern areas of the African continent.

Offspring • Number of offspring 2-6 baby cubs. • Pregnancy length is 108 days. • For the first 3 months lions have milk for their young.
Habits and Unique Behavior • Lions are the most social of the cat family. • They live in prides consisting of one or two males seven females and 14 or 15 cubs of different ages. • For defense lions have very sharp claws and a large mouth. • Females usually do the hunting while the males stay back. • The average lifespan of a lion is about 16 years in the wild. In captivity they can live about 26 years.
