  3. “The Old Rugged Cross” On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,The emblem of suff’ring and shame;And I love that old cross where the dearest and bestFor a world of lost sinners was slain. So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,Till my trophies at last I lay down;I will cling to the old rugged cross,And exchange it some day for a crown.

  14. 3 Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look! God’s dwelling is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will exist no longer; grief, crying,

  15. and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. 5 Then the One seated on the throne said, “Look! I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha

  16. and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give to the thirsty from the spring of living water as a gift. 7 The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—

  17. their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” 9 Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

  18. 10 He then carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 arrayed with God’s glory. Her radiance was like a very precious stone, like a jasper stone, bright as crystal.

  19. 12 [The city] had a massive high wall, with 12 gates. Twelve angels were at the gates; [on the gates], names were inscribed, the names of the 12 tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

  22. WHAT IS GOD PREPARING FOR HIS CHILDREN?

  23. If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:11 (NKJV)

  24. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3 (NKJV)

  25. HEAVEN! I. A PLACE THAT’S REAL.

  26. For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it—in the hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children. Romans 8:19-21 (HCSB)

  27. But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that [day] the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed… But based on His promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell. 2 Peter 3:10, 13 (HCSB)

  28. HEAVEN! II. A PLACE THAT’S RIGHT.

  29. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will exist no longer; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. Revelation 21:4 (HCSB)

  30. 17 “For I will create a new heaven and a new earth; the past events will not be remembered or come to mind. 23 They will not labor without success or bear children [destined] for disaster, for they will be a people blessed by the Lord along with their descendants.

  31. 24 Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but the serpent’s food will be dust! They will not do what is evil or destroy on My entire holy mountain,” says the Lord. Isaiah 65:17, 23-25 (HCSB)

  32. Nothing profane will ever enter it: no one who does what is vile or false, but only those written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21:27 (HCSB)

  33. HEAVEN! III. A PLACE THAT’S RELATIONAL.

  34. Listen! I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (HCSB)

  35. Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2 (HCSB)

  36. HEAVEN! IV. A PLACE THAT’S REWARDING.

  37. “Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to repay each person according to what he has done. Revelation 22:12 (HCSB)

  38. HEAVEN! V. THE PLACE WHERE GOD HIMSELF RESIDES.

  39. For now we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (HCSB)

  41. CONCLUSION

  42. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

  43. 5 who are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5 (HCSB)

  44. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. Psalms 16:6 (HCSB)

  45. Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Anyone who hears should say, “Come!” And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift. Revelation 22:17 (HCSB)

  46. “Room at the Cross” The cross upon which Jesus died Is a shelter in which we can hide; And its grace so free is sufficient for me, And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea.
