Organizational Changes • Elizabeth Capaldi now Senior Vice Chancellor • Associate Vice Chancellor Don Steven departing for the Citadel
SOS • System analysis of survey almost complete – similar to what we’ve done before. • Sub-analysis of separate groups, e.g., freshmen, transfer, etc. • Presentation to SA VP’s in the fall • Interested in identifying long term impacts of SOS
Alumni Survey • Next System-wide survey • Working group met last semester – need to resurrect their work • Administration date????
National Study of Faculty and Students • Deadline June 30, 2004 • Study population: Students enrolled July 1, 2003 - June 30, 2004/Faculty fall 2003. • Random sample: 40-60 faculty and 50-300 students. • Potential problem for us.
IPEDS • From our perspective the IPEDS submissions went better than anticipated. • We are planning to continue on the same path in the coming year. • How did you feel this went? • Can we do the same for SED surveys?
IR Data Systems • Once the design team and the BIRDS complete the design and specifications, we will send the plan to campus leadership for review and comment. • The final plan will reflect campus comments.
SDF Submission • Pressure to move due dates up • “Executive level” attention • Challenges: • Systems conversions • IR staff turnover • Failure to implement System data standards
“Craine” Report • Report to Trustees last Spring. • Comprehensive in scope – linked to Rethinking SUNY (1995). • IR issues: • Completeness/accuracy of data • Timeliness and standard definitions • Improve access and flexibility of use
Community College Benchmarking Project • 22 CCs participating, 80 nation wide. • Deadline June 15, 2004. • Do you want us to coordinate the collection of more data next year?
FIPSE Grant • Applies to 15 Campuses offering teacher education programs • $682,000 • Focus on teacher education program assessment. • Central IR working on NYSTCE database for campuses
Mission Review II • Check out the website at www.sysadm.suny.edu • Campus submissions between now an the end of the year • Goal is to finalize the new MOUs by next summer
Assessment Initiative • In consultation with Faculty Senate, Faculty Council, and the Student Assembly • Approved by the Chancellor, Provost, and Trustee’s Committee on Academic Standards. • Will go before the full Board next week. • Campuses will be required to adopt benchmarks that can be viewed in a larger context
HERI Survey • We believe our faculty survey data is valid for at least five years. • Therefore, we are not participating as a • System e in the HERI 2004 survey. • Of course, campuses may choose to participate if they wish.
Economic Impact • What was the “infamous” spreadsheet? • Attempts to group impacts by congressional district and ten Empire State economic regions • Data Sources: • SUNY • Research Foundation • Construction Fund
